Destinations to Watch This Year

Still not sure where 2012 will take you? Step outside the box with New York Times’ list of places to visit in 2012.  They offer up 45 recommendations, from up-and-coming vacation spots to visit-while-they’re-hot locations.

We’ve highlighted 6 destinations we think you’ll love. (As if you need another reason to pack your bags!)

Florence, Italy

Cherish history but want a modern edge? This Tuscan city has been revived in recent years, pairing world-class cuisine (beyond classic Italian cooking) with a vibrant arts scene that you can see throughout the city.

Costa Verde, Brazil

Lose yourself in literature at the Flip festival. Catch famed jazz acts, hosted by São Paulo’s hottest music venue. Explore up-and-coming Brazilian photography at an annual show. Not far from Rio, this 325-mile coastline is catching on for a reason!

London, England

London, England by TJ Morris

Between Charles Dickens’ 200th birthday, the summer Olympics, and the unveiling of Hogwarts at Warner Bros., the action in London will be non-stop in 2012!

Tahoe, California

Recent renos amp up the action – and amenities – at the slopes in Tahoe, CA. Cushy chairlifts, added snowcat rides to uncharted trails, and more fun for kids are just a start. Plus, Tahoe now has the claim to fame for the most ski terrain in the U.S.

Nosara, Costa Rica

Slip on your wetsuit and hang 10 with the trendy surf crowd in this jungle community. Any skill level can catch a wave in a class, but those not interested in the surf can still enjoy the scene. Neat restaurants, plentiful hiking trails, and turtle preservation are also on tap.

Need somewhere to stay? We’ve got it covered! Our travel planners are there to help you every step of the way.
